VA Suicide Data Report (2012)

The VA Suicide Data Report, 2012 is the first Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) suicide report. It contains a systematic overview of data obtained from the State Mortality Project, Suicide Behavior Reports for fiscal years 2009–2012, and Veterans Crisis Line. Prior to this report, the primary source for Veteran suicide information was limited to those Veterans who receive care in VA.
2010: Estimated 22 veterans committed suicide in America each day. Nearly 70 percent of all veteran suicides were among men and women aged 50 or older
2007: Estimated 18 veterans committed suicide in America each day
1999: Estimated 20 veterans committed suicide in America each day
